News Highlights Emergency Procedures

Needed: Plans to Manage Mental Trauma After a Terrorist Event
Advanced planning is crucial to managing post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in large numbers of people after a terrorist event, say Tulane University researchers. Web and phone-based counseling, preventive medication and limiting personal exposure to media coverage of the event, particularly for children, must all be considered in planning for the aftermath of a terrorist event, says Tulane psychiatrist and public health researcher Neil Boris.

Former Time Magazine's Man of the Year Speaks at Commencement Ceremony
Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine was honored to have David D. Ho, MD, scientific director and CEO of the Aaron Diamond AIDS Research Center, speak at the May commencement ceremony.


Tulane Honors Teaching Scholars in Medicine and Public Health
Tulane University Health Sciences Center presented this year's Teaching Scholar Awards to Jeffrey Wiese, associate professor of medicine in the School of Medicine, and Neil Boris, associate professor of community health sciences in the School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine.
